The Curse of John Elway The theory goes that there is a curse called the "Curse of John Elway" that is the result of John Elway's refusal to play for the National Football League team that originally drafted him, forcing a trade to the Denver Broncos. The belief is that this has resulted in a curse on the Denver Broncos organization that prevents them from either finding or keeping on their roster, an effective Quarterback (Other than Elway himself) with the ability to lead the football team to the Super Bowl..
