The Bernasconi

The Bernasconi cocktail consists of equal portions of Campari, Cointreau, and grapefruit Vodka, stirred not shaken, served in a Martini glass topped up with fresh grapefruit juice and Prosecco or Champagne. It comes with either a grapefruit or orange wedge. Occasionally citron Vodka and fresh orange juice are substituted for grapefruit, but purists reject this as the original inspiration for the drink is to mix the bitter, the sweet, and the sour, which according to the German mystic Jakob Böhme (1575-1624) represented the Trinity. The Bernasconi was invited in August 2008 at Bari's Restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee and is now served all over the world.
