The Always Remember Never Surrender Scholarship

The Always Remember Never Surrender Scholarship is a pending endowment at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. This merit-based (3.5 GPA or higher) scholarship is awarded once per annum to a junior or senior psychology major. The fund was established to provide "awareness, prevention, and scholarship against suicide". The scholarship was founded in April, 2010 by Samuel Lustgarten. Through a grassroots campaign, $21,000 of the $25,000 campaign goal has been raised in 11 months. Applications are accepted each spring semester by March 1 and use the CSUSA (Colorado State University Scholarship Application). Those interested must exemplify their reason for working with populations suffering from suicidal ideation in a personal statement. Students should be pursuing a helping profession in graduate school. Recipients receive a $500 award. The first recipient was awarded in the fall 2010 semester. A plan to spread the scholarship/foundation to other universities has been proposed.
