Terry Daidone

Terry Daidone (born September 7, 1959) is an American businessman and entrepreneur known for acquiring the first carrier unlocked jailbroken Apple iPhone. The first unlocked iPhone made national headlines when it was unlocked by a 17 yr old hacker, George Hotz (alias GeoHot) in August 2007. Daidone was the founder and CEO of a large cell phone refurbishing company when he saw the news on CNBC reporting that the first iPhone was unlocked so it could be used on any GSM network-not just the AT&T network as intended. The first unlocked iPhone became somewhat of a phenomenon and GeoHot put the autographed "2nd" unlocked Apple iPhone on eBAY up for auction but pulled it off after the bids topped $1 million for fear the bids were not legitimate. It is reported that Daidone purchased the phone from Hotz in exchange for a brand new Nissan 350Z sports car, 3 new Apple iPhones, a consulting job, and an undisclosed amount of money for the infamous unlocked iPhone. The GeoHot autographed 1st generation iPhone will again go up for auction commemorating the 10th anniversary of the famous technology hack.
