Tenisbrasil

Tenisbrasil is a specialized tennis website created in October 1998, in Sao Paulo. The development of the website follows the huge interest in the sport after Gustavo Kuerten won the French Open for the first time, in 1997. Initially thought as a weekly magazine, Tenisbrasil quickly became a daily media and drew attention of UOL, the biggest web portal in the country.
Covering not only Kuerten’s victories but the hole international circuit, Tenisbrasil set a new standard in the country and became the most popular Brazilian tennis website, with more than 30 thousand unique visitors and more than 1.5 million page views per day.
The Post-Guga era
Brazilian tennis has significantly changed after Gustavo Kuerten left the top circuit scene. As consequence, Tenisbrasil also modified its daily coverture, giving more attention to international players and tournaments.
However, the emergence of Roger Federer filled this gap and sustained the regular audience of the website. His quest for records, his battles with Rafael Nadal and his huge popularity all over the world made of him a constant presence on the main page.
Nowadays, the website can count on the only top player to keep its popularity. In 2009, Thomaz Bellucci entered the ATP top 40 after winning the country's first title after four years. The 22 year-old player from Sao Paulo is pointed by specialists as the one who can put the country back into the world scenario.
The women tennis, on the other hand, is not attractive to Brazilian fans. Nevertheless, the 2010 season will be probably one of the most interesting after a long time. Besides the Williams sisters, the Belgians Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin and also the Russian Marian Sharapova will be back on the tour.
