Tekkit

Tekkit is the multiplayer variant of the Technic Pack for the popular sandbox game Minecraft. It includes over 40 mods, mainly industrial mods (Industrial craft, Buildcraft, Redpower and Railcraft) but also has a magical side to it (Equivalent Exchange) and many other mods. Along with these 5 large mods, smaller mods are added if they are of a good enough quality. These include Balcon's Weapon Mod (adds weapons), Rei's minimap, which allows the player to see where they are and therefore lowers the chance of getting lost when mining or building and Not Enough Items (NEI), a mod which allows you to insert any block/entity for free and even check up on the recipe for it.
The project may close down due to a complete change in the way Minecraft singleplayer works since version 1.3. Tekkit is currently in version 3.1.2 for Minecraft 1.2.5 and may never change. Cracked versions of Tekkit cannot be played on Minecraft 1.4.2 servers as that Tekkit launcher is 1.2.5. You will need a 1.4.2 Tekkit launcher to play a cracker tekkit server (Multiplayer).
Tekkit used to include 2 more mods than it does today. It used to include Foresty (a mod concertrating on the rural sides of industrialism) and Thaumcraft 2, one which is similar to Buildcraft but concertrates on magic and crystals.
Technicpack.net is responsible for Tekkit, as it is part of the Technic pack. The pack also includes the Yogbox (made by the Yogscast), Technic SSP (the single-player version of Tekkit), Voxel Modpack and Hack/Mine. You can also launch regular "vanilla" Minecraft from the launcher.
