Teens for Teens

Teens for Teens is a Political Action Committee (PAC) and 501(c)(4) political advocacy committee formed by Benjamin Burstein. The organization was created in February 2015.
Burstein’s dedication to youth political representation led him to create Teens for Teens as a voice in local governments, elections, and political spheres for the youth of his community. As the youngest director of a PAC in the country, Burstein has worked countless hours to register students to vote, host candidate debates, lobby to lower the voting age in local elections, and to give students a medium to participate in local political systems.

Burstein has also worked to make an impact on municipal elections in South Florida. Teens for Teens lobbied to get three different municipalities to have charter amendments which would lower the voting age to 16 in local elections on their ballots in 2016. Additionally, after hearing feedback and the complaints of hundreds of Miami Beach residents, Teens for Teens took action by holding its own debates between candidates in the 2015 local Miami Beach elections. On September 26 and October 10, Teens for Teens held debates between candidates in Groups 4, 5, and 6, as well as being the first to hold a debate between Mayor Philip Levine and challenger David Wieder in the election season. Burstein is steadfast on changing the status quo to increase civic engagement among students across the country.
