TEC is an international movement by many separate organizations whose goal is to reach out to teens and young adults. The acronym varies; it typically stands for Teens Encounter Christ, but for weekends targeting more than teenagers, it is typically made to stand for Together Encounter Christ. The Weekend A TEC consists of weekends held at regular intervals, usually four a year. The focus of the weekend is on Jesus' death and resurrection. Beliefs TEC was originally founded on the basis Roman Catholicism, and all official TECs still adhere to that. In order to get the official copyrighted manual for how to run a TEC weekend, one must be certified by the Catholic Church; however, many unofficial TECs have made their own manuals in order to be nondenominational. These include TEC of West Michigan, Northwest Iowa TEC, and Crossroads TEC (In South Dakota). History According to the TEC Conference homepage, the first TEC weekends were organized by nurses in Battle Creek, MI.
