Tech Beat A fast-paced, Acid and Trance fusion with an Industrial feel with a tempo range of around 150 - 155 BPM. The first Tech Beat tracks were written and produced in 2007 by Alex Romane (co-writer and co-producer of the world's first formally released Progressive Hardcore/Jungle/Drum and Bass Album in 1992). Produced in inner-city Birmingham (UK) with Alex Romane's collaborative Urban Sunrise, Tech Beat was a conscious effort to create a new harsher genre of Dance music that would still allow for rich emotional expression. Tech Beat was formulated by fusing 1980's Acid sounds with Trance sounds running at a pace close to the average human heart rate. Industrialised effects and ambience, dark and solid bass sounds and harsh drum ryhthms with sharp 'attacks' keep Tech Beat from getting too light and 'floaty', whilst Tech Beat track structures allow for movements and journys that are far less limited than the typical verse-chorus, A-B or loop-based structures of most other genres. To summarise; A Tech Beat track that contains all of the 'Tech Beat' elements whilst running on a verse-chorus, A-B structure, would not constitute Tech Beat. A Tech Beat track that contains all of the 'Tech Beat' elements whilst running at a tempo of 145 BMP would not constitute Tech Beat. A Tech Beat track that contains all of the 'Tech Beat' elements but without dark, industrial ambience would not constitute Tech Beat. A Tech Beat track that contains all of the 'Tech Beat' elements but without a heavy bass sound would not constitute Tech Beat. Tech beat is strictly: 150 - 155 BPM - 1980's Acid sounds - Trance elements - Heavy bass sounds - Industrial sound effects - Classical structures. Tech Beat performances The first Tech Beat tracks were 'played-out' by Alex Romane in Tunisia in 2007, with the first ever live performance of Tech Beat occuring at the 2009 Birmingham Arts Fest . The set featured 'Acid Rain', 'Hold on to Love' (with Si on guitar), 'Twisted Bass' and Warrior Princess' (an Electro Dub track) with Urban Sunrise also headlining the after party where an hour-long Tech Beat set was performed back-to-back live on stage. Tech Beat releases The first Tech Beat tracks to be formally released were 'Acid Rain and 'Hold on to Love' . Innitially released and distributed by EMP in 2007 as an mp3, both tracks and many others are now available from Urban Sunrise as well as other artists, with a surge in interest by artists in Europe taking root during 2009.
