Tasktop Technologies Inc.

Tasktop Technologies Inc. created and leads the Eclipse Mylyn open source project, which is the reference implementation of the Task-Focused Interface technology invented by Tasktop CEO Dr. Mik Kersten at the University of British Columbia. The research behind the Task-Focused Interface was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Gail Murphy, who is now COO at Tasktop technologies. Kersten, Murphy, and Robert Elves co-founded Tasktop Technologies in 2007 to develop and market productivity software based on the Task-Focused Interface technology. Tasktop Pro, first released in February 2008, is the flagship software product distributed by Tasktop Technologies. "Tasktop" is a portmanteau of "Task-focused Desktop".
Tasktop Technologies is well known for assisting other companies in leveraging Task-Focused Interface technology. Tasktop partnered with SpringSource to deliver the SpringSource Tool Suite, which a development environment for building enterprise applications using the Spring Portfolio. Tasktop Technologies has also partnered with CollabNet, and Rally Software to develop and maintain connectors between the Mylyn Task-Focused Interface and the application lifecycle management software marketed by these companies.
In September 2008, Tasktop CEO Mik Kersten was interviewed by the Microsoft-created "How Software is Built" series. In that interview, Kersten explains the community and academic roots behind the task-focused interface technology in Tasktop's products. Tasktop Technologies has been profiled by an industry analyst, the 451 Group.
