Tara Kishore Chowdhury

Tara Kishore Chowdhury (1859 - 7 November 1935) was an Indian lawyer and social worker. He was the first Bengali attorney general of the Calcutta High Court. He served as a Bengali judge of the Calcutta High Court.
Early life
Chowdhury was born in the family of Sambhant zamindar Brahman Chowdhury. His father's name was Sriharkishore Chowdhury and his mother's name was Srigirijasundari Devi. He was born 10 June 1859, on 128 BS, on the auspicious date of 26 Jaistha, Jaistha Shukla Dashami Dashahara. Two qualities of his father had a profound effect on the life of the saint Santadas Kathiababa Maharaj. His childhood name was Tarakishore Chowdhury. He had a strong passion for learning from his childhood.
He studied in the Laskarpur subdivision English school. This school later became Habiganj Govt. High School. In 1874, at age 14, he was awarded a scholarship. He was admitted to Metropolitan College and then to BA class in Presidency College. In 1879 he passed BA in first class from Calcutta Presidency College. Chowdhury was the first graduate of Habiganj District. In 1883 he passed the B, L examination. He passed MA in philosophy from Calcutta University in 1885 and obtained a degree in law.
Career
He joined the legal profession at Sylhet Bar in 1885. After staying in Sylhet for four years, he joined the legal profession in the Calcutta High Court. Chowdhury was the next best lawyer in the Calcutta High Court after Sir Rasbihari Ghosh. In 1912, the British government appointed him as the Attorney general of the Calcutta High Court. He was the first Bengali Attorney General of the Calcutta High Court. In August 1915, he was appointed a judge of the Calcutta High Court. He resigned as a judge.

In 1915, he left his 30-year career as a lawyer and set out for Vrindavan with his wife. There was no train fare from Kolkata to Vrindavan. Kolkata lawyers, businessmen, students, youths, old people and women bid farewell to Tara kishore Chowdhury. After becoming a monk in Vrindavan, his name was Maharaja Santdas Kathiababa. After coming to Maharaja Vrindavan, no one saw him sleeping day and night, he was always busy with meditation. He used to eat little. The largest fair in India is the Kumbh Mela. Millions of people from all over India come to this fair. Get the responsibility of the director of Aquarius Fair. He is also the first Bengali in this post. In 1931 he established an ashram at Shibpur in Howrah. Tarakishore Chowdhury established Nimbaka Ashram in Sylhet in July 1934.
Death
Santadas Kathiababa Maharaj diedy at Vrindavan on 6 November 1935.
