Talking Football

Talking Football is a fans forum dedicated to world football, it is run and staffed by an international team of moderators and administrators. Despite it's relatively young tenure it has an ever growing memberbase and is always expanding it's services and offers to it's members.
Talking Football is an idea dreamed up by some like minded football fans from the UK. It began life on 6-may-2009 when the current owner first registered the domain.
Unlike other forums Talking Football doesn’t impose certain limitations on it’s members, the site is open 24/7 and has no posting limit. The content of the site is controlled by certain rules covering the use of copyright and a fully personalized profile allows users to pick and choose the options to make the site more user friendly.
The Forum
Team Boards
The main section of Talking Football is a forum designed to cover news and stories that cover football and soccer from across the globe.
Boards are available for fans to discuss their teams and all that goes with it, history, tactics, the complete football experience. What separates the site from other fan forums is the option to apply for a board, if a members team isn’t represented then they have the opportunity to have that board introduced.
For the less serious discussions the On The Terraces boards allow fans to trade some friendly words about other teams, this keeps the specific team boards solely for dedicated football chat.
General Discussion
The most popular section of the forum is the General Discussion board, the majority of members can be found here talking about allsorts and everything.
Matchday Threads
Talking Football offers dedicated matchday threads for each and every game of the specific team board. Currently the threads cover Rangers and Celtic in the SPL, and also Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd in the English Premiership as well as Scotland international fixtures.
If a fan can’t attend a game for whatever reason then these allow the fan to keep up to date with how the game is going and lets them interact with other supporters.
Predictor
The recently introduced Forecast Football predictor game gives members the chance to join a virtual football league. Currently the predictor covers the SPL and the English Premiership but there are plans to extend the league.
At the beginning of the week the fixtures are sent out to members via private messages and all they have to do is reply with their predictions, this information is collated into both a weekly winners league table and an overall leaders table, at the end of the football season prizes are handed out to the winner.
The newest aspect of Forecast Football is a knockout cup style competition, this will be trialed over the 2009/10 season.
Board Moderators
Board moderator is a separate title from global moderator, these members have taken the responsibility to run the team board of their choice, any member can apply to become a board moderator and the global mod and admin team will decide whether the application is accepted or rejected.
A good board moderator will want to make their board a success, through posting articles about their team they will look to advertise the board to fellow supporters, it is a board moderators responsibility to get that specific matchday thread up and running, and also advertise and promote it.
Member Interviews
A feature of Talking Football are the member interviews, these act as a way to get to know fellow members, a vote is cast as to who will be the subject of the interview and questions are then set.
Personalized Profile
Each member has the option to add a section about themselves on their profile, this is akin to social networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace. Options are available to add personal pictures, embed video and write a section of information to set each member as an individual.
Along with a personalized avatar and signature this allows users to create an online personality and like other social networking sites there is a facility to link to other members through an add friends option and a comments section allows users to keep in contact outwith the actual forum.
