Seed UK

Seed UK
Seed UK is a Jewish adult education organisation which is part of the international ‘Outreach Movement’. The Outreach Movement was started in the 1970’s to ‘reach out to Jews’ who had lost touch with their spiritual heritage. Seed was founded by Rabbi Joseph Grunfeld, in the UK, considered to be a doyen of the movement. It’s particular speciality is the education of parents of Jewish children with the slogan, educate a parent and you create a teacher’.
Originally seed pioneered the idea of ‘One to One’ study, Jewishly educated lay people taught those who were looking to increase their knowledge ‘One to One’. In its heyday seed boasted a thousand study partnerships in synagogues across the UK. More recently in 2002 seed has diversified and run parent education programmes in Jewish primary schools as well as the original One to One programme. It is well known for its weekend seminars. These are educational weekends for the family held in residential hotels, several times a year.
Its most famous seminar is the ‘Challenge Seminar’. This is an attempt to establish existence of G-d and the Divine origin of the Torah through rational and empirical arguments.
There are several other seed organisations in other countries and although there are similarities they are not organisationally linked.
