Tahseen Chowdhury (born ) is a New York teenage progressive politician and Stuyvesant High School student. He is running for New York State Senate for the 2018 election year against IDC State Senator Jose Peralta. If elected, he would represent District 13 in the New York State Senate, which includes the Queens neighborhoods of Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Woodside. Early life and family Chowdhury is a second generation Bangladeshi-American. After immigrating to the United States, his father was employed at a deli on the Upper West Side and his mother delivered newspapers for a local Bengali newspaper. He attended P.S. 127 Aerospace Science Magnet School for elementary school and then served as the Student Council President at his middle school, P.S. 122 Mamie Fay, a gifted and talented school in Astoria. He currently attends Stuyvesant High School, serving as its Student Union President. He also serves as the Manhattan Borough Student President at the New York City Department of Education. Political career Chowdhury announced his intention to run against Jose Peralta in the 2018 New York State Senate election. His decision was spurred by Peralta's move to join the Independent Democratic Conference in the State Senate, and the allegations of fraud that ensued against Peralta.
