SymbioNode is a special type of data carrier in delay and disruption tolerant networking (DTN) developed at MEIS laboratories. In DTN network, The usual data carrier (mule) between the nodes is a computer that stores and distributes the acquired data to other nodes. In some cases it's more efficient to use only a storage device, such as USB key or Compact Flash, instead of a whole computer. The idea take advantage of "AutoPlay" to automatically invoke necessary operations for transformation of a simple USB key into a new "virtual" computer. In such way it's possible to simulate a "mule" that behaves like another computer. |
