Dato Sri' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin bin Syed Mohamed Tahir is a Malaysian businessman, and previously the Vice President of Downstream Marketing (2017 to 2020) for PETRONAS, a Malaysian state-owned, Fortune Global 500 oil and gas company.. Early life Syed Zainal Abidin attended the Penang Free School, graduated in 2979. He continued his study at the University of Maryland, United States of America, graduated in 1985 with the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Career Syed Zainal Abidin is appointed as the Chairman of by the Ministry of Education in Malaysia in July 2018 He has been the Vice President of Downstream Marketing in PETRONAS from July 2017 to June 2020.
