Sushil Pokharel

Sushil Pokharel () is a rising entrepreneur. Born in Dolakha district of Nepal, he is currently based in California and Kathmandu.
Early life and business
Pokharel is the executive chairperson of Sushmit Energy, a hydropower company based in Nepal, which is developing more than 100 MW from four different hydropower projects in Myagdi district. Since 2015, he is also on the executive committee of Energy Development Council (EDC).The EDC is an umbrella organization of Energy Developers, Energy Associations, Energy Financiers among others
Pokharel,one of the popular entrepreneurs of Nepal is also associated with various organizations and events. One of the such events is ICT Awards. He has been working as a jury coordinator of ICT Startup Awards, the biggest tech award of Nepal, since 2016. The ICT Award which is organized annually, celebrates national excellence in the discipline of IT sectors in Nepal. The award is celebrated in conjunction with the annual ICT Award conference in the capital city of Nepal.
Pokharel started working at the tender age of 14.He worked as a radio jockey at Manakamana FM. He then worked as a station manager at Hetauda F.M. He has Masters in Business Administration from Tribhuvan University.
Philanthropy
Pokharel is the founder of For My Nation a charity organization established to build permanent shelter to earthquake (Gorkha) victims.
He mentors aspiring young entrepreneurs through Yuwa Uddhyami Ghar (). The organization provides a platform to pitch their ideas and arranges the meeting with potential investors. With his investing knowledge and operating experience, Pokharel is also working as a venture capitalist.
Awards
Pokharel is the recipient of Asia Honesty Award for his achievement for an important role in encouraging SMEs across the world. Additionally, he was honored with Mars Award for his contribution in promoting women entrepreneurship in 2015.
