Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX is a non-profit fangame based on Nintendo's . It was released on July 30, 2005. The game is a 2D platform game created by game designer Ryan Bloom using the Clickteam Multimedia Fusion software authoring tool. It has been downloaded over 300,000 times and was featured on Attack of the Show.
Plot
In the introduction, Princess Peach and Mario settle down to rest after another rescue from Bowser. According to legend, a castle appears every Halloween to curse the land. The castle rises near Mario and the princess, and a strange bat-like creature captures Peach leaving Mario to save her once again. Mario must traverse severl worlds and battle old and new enemies which include King Boo, the Pumpkin King, and Giga Bowser until he finally reaches his goal of rescuing Peach and defeating the evil Count Dracula.
Audio
Most of the music in the game originates from various Mario games, including Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Super Mario World. Music was also reused from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and '.
Reception
On the week of August 6, 2005, Blue Twilight was voted "Game of the Week" at The Daily Click and on August 19, 2005, it was on G4's Attack of the Show for "Free Play Friday". However, when it was shown, Kevin Pereira accidentally gave out the information for the original Super Mario: Blue Twilight (the footage shown was of the newly released Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX). To date, it has had over 300,000 downloads total between the two versions (1.03 and 1.04). It has also been briefly mentioned in GamesMaster, Games for Windows Magazine's "101 Free Games" feature and the gaming blog Kotaku.com.
