Super Lawyers is an annual jurisdictional listing of outstanding American lawyers from more than 70 areas of private practice. Only 5 percent of the private practice lawyers from any state or region are included each year. A rigorous multiphase selection process, considering a wide range of objective indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, is used. The objective of Super Lawyers is to provide a diverse and comprehensive listing of outstanding private practice attorneys that can be used by sophisticated consumers and referring lawyers as a beginning resource in the search for legal counsel. All lawyers who have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers from 2003 to the present are listed on superlawyers.com. History Super Lawyers began as a special section in Minnesota Law & Politics in 1991, and in Washington Law & Politics in 1997. The national expansion of Super Lawyers began with the publication of Texas Super Lawyers in November 2003. Today, Super Lawyers publishes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as publishing in special advertising sections of the nation’s top city and regional magazines and newspapers. In April 2008, the company began publishing Super Lawyers - Corporate Counsel Edition, which is distributed nationwide to 25,000 in-house counsels and CEOs. Effective with its 2010 publications, Super Lawyers now excludes government attorneys. In February 2010, Super Lawyers was acquired by Thomson Reuters, and is a registered trademark of Thomson Reuters.
