Sumeeti Mittal

Sumeeti Mittal is an Indian social entrepreneur, and founder & trustee of Pratham Shiksha; a Jaipur-based charitable organization promoting basic education for underprivileged children living in slum areas of Jaipur, Rajasthan. She received the 100 Women Achievers Award by the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, Government of India, and the Bharat Gaurav Award at the House of Commons, London.
Career
After receiving a B. E. (Civil Engineering) from MBM Engineering College, JNV University, Jodhpur, Sumeeti joined the Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Rajasthan as Assistant Engineer in 1998. In 2000, she co-founded Pratham Software (PSI). In 2005, Sumeeti started Pratham Shiksh a, a nonprofit organization working for underprivileged children in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The school has been imparting basic and higher education to the underprivileged students living in slum areas of Jaipur, Rajasthan. She has started up an independent IT Training and Finishing school called “V-Technos”. In 2012 she founded the Robotics e-learning portal, RoboGalaxy, based on the Lego Mindstorms platform.
Pratham Shiksha
The major innovative initiatives of Pratham Shiksha, include flexi timing classes for the students. The flexi hours helps students to work during the day and study in free hours. This way they are able to earn a livelihood and continue their studies also. Recently the school has collaborated with a private hospital to impart nursing training to around 100 girls and boys. This is in line with the Government’s initiative of Skill India, to developing the skills of people and empowering them for a better life. The nursing students will be provided with the certifications from government and will be eligible for nursing posts in both public and private hospitals.
Personal life
Sumeeti is married to Puneet Mittal, MD & CEO of Pratham Software (PSI). They have two daughters.

* Pratham Shiksha has been recognized at Make In India Awards for Excellence - 2015 under NGO Category for its contribution in social development.
