Strifer

Strifer is a Progressive Metal band formed in Nevada County by guitarists Jesse Hunter and Wes Fox, drummer Bryan McAleese, and bassist Nolan Watt.

Band's Formation

Strifer was formed in the twin cities of Nevada County by Guitarist Wes Fox and Drummer Bryan McAleese-Jergins. Shortly afterwards, guitarist Jesse Hunter joined the band and they also recruited bass player Brett Lewis shortly after their original bass player, Nolan, left to pursue an education in music at University of California, Santa Cruz. Following Nolan's return from the university, Brett left and Nolan returned to his original position as bassist. Jesse, during the Warped Tour '06, decided to sign up for the Bodog Battle of the Bands. In December, 2006, the band drove to San Francisco and emerged as the victor over 846 other bands. Strifer went on national TV to compete for the $1,000,000 record deal, where only ten bands would be selected for a new reality show that was to premier on Fuse TV. Strifer was eliminated at the end of the first episode, leaving them in 11th place. The band later stated that this was not a major let-down for them, and that a reality show was not in their interest anyways. They had other plans in mind, and their first was to add new member; Dorian Mikel, a progressive-rock style keyboardist to complete the group. The band later performed a halloween show in their home town (Grass Valley), where they covered "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson along with their own originals. Strifer is most known for their melodic harmonies and unique writing stlye.
