Stockato

History
Launched in August 2011, Stockato LLC is an American company that was founded by Dr. Uri Kartoun and his father David Kartoun. Stockato developed a classification technology that was utilized to develop several financial search engines.
Technology
Machine learning techniques have been used for decades in a variety of quantitative domains, including artificial neural networks and decision tree learning. Stockato uses these methods on large data-sets resulting in financial instrument classification, and real-time methods for recognizing similarities in behaviors among financial instruments. Self-labeling supervised learning enhancement allows the application of supervised learning methods on unlabeled training sets. Signal composition allows classifying long-time series by combining the classification results of separated short-length time ranges. Stockato uses this to evaluate the level of similarity between the behaviors of time series for extended periods. Zack Miller suggested that Stockato will be "The Google of Finance."
Intellectual Property
The Stockato classification technology as described in a submission of a patent application was published by the USPTO on August 6 2015.
