Stimulator is an American Pop music Band formed in Los Angeles in 2002. The original members of the band were Susan Hyatt and Geoff Tyson. History Stimulator was originally started by singer/songwriter Susan Hyatt (London's Pillbox) and guitarist/producer Geoff Tyson (T-Ride/Snake River Conspiracy) in 2002. The band now also features drummer Chad Stewart (Faster Pussycat/Gilby Clarke/Motochrist/LA Guns) and replacing bassist Sean Tichenor (King Black Acid/James Angell) is Michael Birnholz aka DS Lee formerly of NYC Glam Goth Pioneers Phantasm. Stimulator started with an electronic sound reminiscent of with 80's New Wave music keyboards. Composed of accomplished musicians, Stimulator recorded their debut album in former guitar player, Geoff Tyson’s bedroom. The band's completely DIY approach won them many accolades. Their first single “'78 Stimulator” was released on the Org Singles Club UK label. Kevin Lyman handpicked the band to play the Warped Tour after hearing that their song “On Top of the World” had won the Best Rock Song in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The band enjoyed success touring with childhood heroes Duran Duran on their 2005 "Astronaut Tour", The Go-Go's 2006 reunion tour, , and . Songs were licensed to TV shows such as NBC’s “Las Vegas,” MTV's “The Real World”, and The Walt Disney Company Film “Ella Enchanted ”. Stimulator’s song “Let’s Hook Up’ was the theme song for Entertainment’s “101 Juiciest Hollywood Hook-ups". Their debut self-titled album was licensed to the LAB/Universal Records in 2005 with cover art conceptualized and designed by Duran Duran's and designer Patty Palazzo. The band covered songs such as ’s “Tom Sawyer” for Canadian Release and Olivia Newton-John’s “Magic” for special Australian release. Their animated/live action video for “Magic” featured a cameo by singer Cherie Currie from the classic all girl rock group The Runaways. In 2007 Geoff Tyson left the band and the new sound for Stimulator emerged: a mix of classic Disco, Easy Listening California melodies, and European Pop. This was the sound for Stimulator’s second album - Stimulator 2. Susan was drawn back into the 70's rock and disco subculture after playing an extensive solo tour in Japan and spending time in Kyoto and Tokyo's live houses. This was the main influence for the second album. “The whole concept of Stimulator is about celebrating life. I want the music to capture the feeling of being on vacation,” states Susan. Stimulator's second full length album, Stimulator 2 (distributed by MGM Distribution), was funded by fans of the band. Stimulator recruited Steve Sidelnyk (/) on percussion, Monte Pittman (Madonna) on guitar, Jeremy Ruzumna on keyboards (Macy Gray, Joss Stone), and mixer Josh Fields to help complete the new sound. Stimulator 2 is released in the Summer of 2008. Gregg Alexander from New Radicals and Dave Way (Foo Fighters/Christina Aguilera/Spice Girls) helped mix the first single "On Holiday." Stimulator has returned to their Dark Wave Roots with their third album "Lovelier in Black" with the return of Guitarist/Producer Geoff Tyson.
