Steven Trafford Taylor

Steven Trafford Taylor is a lawyer and Canadian politician. He was the Conservative Party of Canada candidate in University-Rosedale in the 2021 Canadian federal election.
Early Life and Education
Taylor was born in British Columbia, and raised in Ontario and Western Canada. He received a B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal. He attended the University of Connecticut. He has an LL.B. from the University of London and an LL.M. from the London School of Economics.
Career in Law
Taylor began his legal career with the law firm Stikeman Elliott. He taught law at the University of London and was a senior fellow at the University of Ottawa. Taylor was associate general counsel for portfolio companies of Apollo Global Management while working in London, Singapore, Toronto and Montreal.
Political Life
Taylor was privacy counsel for the Conservative Party (UK) and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson from 2018 to 2019.
In the 2021 Canadian federal election, Taylor's candidacy was endorsed by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. He was also supported by Senator Nicole Eaton and Cabinet Minister John Baird. Taylor was defeated by the incumbent Liberal MP, Chrystia Freeland.
Personal Life
Taylor is a member of the Anglo-Catholic Church. Taylor resides in Montreal. His great grandfather was Frank Trafford Taylor, a Canadian lawyer, and the president of Kiwanis International. He is also a descendant of Sir George Everest.
He has supported the Albany Club and the Terry Fox Foundation.
