Steven M. Kamali is one of hospitality’s foremost experts living in New York City. He was born in Roslyn, New York in 1981. The son of Iranian Jews who had immigrated to Long Island, he grew up in a traditional Jewish community and environment. Steven M. Kamali started his business career in college creating a website advertising area restaurants and ran a sports-betting operation, hiring fraternity members to take wagers. Steven got his real estate start at the age of 21, working as a top commercial broker at Besen & Associates, then as Director of Acquisitions for Morris Moinian. He founded his own restaurant brokerage firm, Stevens & Company, in 2002, followed by the creation of Steven Kamali Hospitality in 2007. Steven has one daughter, Juliette Lake, with wife Michele Devon Kamali, owner of boutique interior design firm, Lavender & Plum. Steven and Michele live in a loft in Manhattan’s trendy Soho neighborhood and spend their summers in the Hamptons.
