Stephen Paul West

Stephen Paul West (born 21 July 1974) is an American author, film director and professional photographer specializing in abstract portrait photography from the United States.
His novels reflect a social structure that is dark, almost Gothic, with themes similar to the Brontë sisters.
His female characters exemplify Byronic heroes. This anti-Victorian culture changes the female leads from a passive-reactive role into a larger dynamic-proactive role.
Biography
An Austin, Texas denizen, who is an active participant in artistic culture reflected by the expression Keep Austin Weird.
A strong supernatural undertone is threaded into his work, as in his contemporaries.
Stephen Paul West works with actors/models important in the region, including Brandon Sagar, sister’s Alisha and Sarahi Tyler, Cici Barone, as well as Niki Hawkynne.
His artistic work is a blend of photography, literary, film and music - and he crosses freely between all of the medium to express a single story. In this respect, he is a modern story teller who utilizes all contemporary technical facets of today's society.
Work
His first novel, “MaelStrom To London”, reflects the nature of a strong leading female, Emily Black, who must navigate a difficult social structure - a theme common in Historical Fiction, such as Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice. However, as a modern author his books share a modern, gothic, romance element similar to novelists as Libba Bray, A Great and Terrible Beauty, or Stephanie Meyer, Twilight.
He second work, "Bed of Stone - Heart of Wood", continues the gothically dark theme of Emily Black. This book reflects a darker overtone than is generally found in his work.
