Background and education Dr. Stephen P. Courtney, born December 29, 1963, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon currently operating in Plano, Texas. Dr. Courtney earned his Bachelor of Science at University of Louisiana at Monroe, in Louisiana, before attending LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport, in Louisiana. He then completed his orthopedic residency at Texas A&M University Medical Center in Temple, Texas, and his spine fellowship at Florida Neck & Back Institute, PA, in Gainesville, Florida.
