The Zenith Foundation
The Zenith Foundation is an advocacy group that aims to improve the lives of transsexual and transgendered peoples. This group founded in 1992 in British Columbia is the first anti-violence advocacy group for Transsexuals to come out of Vancouver . The objective is “to work toward improving the security and circumstances of people with gender dysphoria and to educate and advocate on behalf of Canadian transsexual communities or individuals . Along with creating literature to educate, with the help of Vancouver Hospital Gender Dysphoria Clinic, the organization worked to improve the physical and psychological health of trans people.. Therefore leaving many trans people unaccounted for. The Zenith Foundation has participated in the recommendation of adding gender in the legislation in the belief that this kind of recognition will improve the lives of trans people and in saying that “ the adoption of gender identity as a prohibited ground will not silence the attacks, but will blunt them in much the same way that has happened with sexual orientation”.. Kavanagh won the right to have the surgery and make the move and Stephanie Castle commented that “she will be a woman in a women's prison, to that extent, she will no longer be a misfit.”. Since 1994, they offer gender sensitivity training sessions to various service locales, and provide a safe space for trans people to get support and resources to either cope with or to prevent HIV and AIDs, among many other services.<ref name=highrisk/>
