Steph Hodgins-May

Stephanie (Steph) Jean Hodgins-May (born 23 August 1985) is the Greens candidate for the Australian House of Representatives Division of Melbourne Ports, in the 2016 Federal election. Hodgins-May is a trained environmental and planning lawyer, environmental advocate, co-founder of the Vivien Hodgins Foundation and St Kilda local.
Background and early life
Hodgins-May grew up on a self-sufficient farm in Blampied, Victoria. She completed Bachelor of Law/ Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University in 2009.
Environmental advocacy work
Between 2010 and 2012 Hodgins-May volunteered at the Environment Defenders Office, offering legal advice on public interest and environmental and planning matters to community groups.
In 2011/2012, Hodgins-May supported AusAID negotiations at the United Nations on behalf of the Australian Government on a range of humanitarian and development resolutions in the General Assembly, such as climate change, humanitarian coordination, disability-inclusive development, global health policy and moving from relief to development in the aftermath of natural disasters.
Political candidacy
In September 2015, Hodgins-May announced that she would run in the 2016 election as the Greens federal candidate for Melbourne Ports, challenging Labor incumbent Mr Michael Danby.
