Stefan Rothe (born August 8, 1981) is a German amateur road bicycle racer.
Originally from Dresden, Germany, Rothe moved to the USA in 2003 after receiving a cycling scholarship from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He started with cycling already back in 1992, inspired by watching the Olympic Games held in Barcelona, Spain that year. After racing as a member of the 1. RSV Dresden (1992-1995), the DSC 1898 e.V. (1996-2001), and the RSV Hameln (2002) as a Junior and U23 racer, Rothe came to the USA to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and continue cycling. In 2005, he placed 5 times in the Top 4 of UCI races in Central America, including a second place in Stage 4 at the Vuelta a El Salvador (UCI 2.2) where he also won the Most Aggressive Rider jersey for the entire Tour. In April 2006, Rothe finished on the podium at the Collegiate World Road Championships held in Antwerp, Belgium. He won a total of 13 USAC races in that 2006 season. Rothe raced multiple UCI stage races during the winter of 2006/2007 in Asia as part of the Champion Systems Team and placed 2nd on Stage 2 of the Jelajah Malaysia (UCI 2.2) in January 2007. Until 2009 he raced in the United States for the Mercy Cycling Team, an Elite Cycling Team based in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. For 2010, Rothe is part of the Team Hotel San Jose, an Elite Amateur Team based in Austin, TX.
