Louis Kek (March 30, 1971), former President and CEO of Mad City Broadband, Inc. pioneered in the design, deployment, operation and commercialization of a citywide wireless mesh network, having launched the city of Madison’s Wi-Fi network in 2006.
The network has since offered aggressive prices to the local college students, business, visitors and residents of Madison, Wisconsin. The network which connects 10 square miles of city area, an airport, a hospital and apartment complexes, enabled a true portability for users. The network has been plagued by complaints of poor connections, especially in businesses and apartment buildings .
Kek a veteran telecommunication, wireless infrastructure, and network security expert, was until recently CIO of Cellnet Technology, Inc., and has been instrumental in formulating both the business and wireless mesh network models Mad City Broadband, Inc. Kek was part of the Cellnet management team that completed the sale of the business to the Bayard Group in 2007. The network model has since been deployed and commercialized in Singapore, Taiwan, US and Malaysia.
Kek had held various positions with Schlumberger and Atos Origin. Recently Kek started Malaynesia Resources Private Limited a Singapore based company providing business consultation in Asia focused in Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Cambodia.
