Stamford park

Stamford Park is a open public area near the centre of Altrincham, in Greater Manchester, England. The park is open for most of the day but closes at dusk. The park is open to anyone. The park is approximately 16.28 acres and contains attractions such as several ponds that contain wildlife such as ducks and the occasional heron.

The Ponds are maintained by the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford and is one of the reasons why the park is used so extensively by adults and youths alike.

However, the bowling green is probably the main attraction of old people. The grass of the bowling green is particularly well looked after by the council.

There is a Tennis Court for anyone to play Tennis. This, like all features of the park is free to use and can be used by anyone whenever the park is open.

There is a playground that contains equipment such as slides and climbing frames but the piece of equipment that is famous with teens all around the park is the "Basket Swing". This, on a sunny day, can attract crowds of onlookers as daring teenagers perform incredible, death defying stunts on it. The swing is called a "Basket Swing" because of the design. It is similar to a traditional swing in the way it moves but the seat is replaced with a massive wicker style basket.

On the sign at the entrances to the park, it advertises "Putting". However, this feature either no longer exists or never existed in the history of the park.
