St Austell RFC

St Austell RFC is a Rugby union team from Cornwall. St Austell RFC has the nickname the Saints and currently plays their home games at the Tregorrick Park ground in St Austell, Cornwall.
Competitions
The club currently has 14 youth and senior teams with the club appearing in major competitions Tribute Western Counties West, The Cornwall Cup and The South West Counties Cup

St Austell RFC play in the St Austell Town colours of Red and White.
History
St Austell RFC was founded in 1963 and has had a presence in the town ever since. The club has had grounds at Cromwell Road and the current ground at Tregorrick Park.
1st XV
The 1st XV are currenty playing in the Tribute Western Counties West. Training twice a week at their Tregorrick Park ground on a Tuesday and Thursday. The 1st XV is currently coached by Paul Hayes, Steve Murley, James Earp, Richard Lamb, Andy Ashwin.
St Austell Sinners
The St Austell Sinners XV (also known as the St Austell 2nd XV) currently play in the CRFU (Cornwall Rugby Football Union) Merit League. The Sinners are coached by Steve Murley and Puds Durant. Training for the Sinners is held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Tregorrick Park ground.
Youth teams
Colts
The Colts section is coached by Mike Morgan, Richard Mace, Richard Conybeare and Mike Keveth. The Colts are currently playing in the Colts Premiership Cornwall. The Colts train every Tuesday and Thursday at the Tregorrick Park ground.
Junior teams
St Austell RFC currently run Junior teams for the following age groups Under 16's, Under 15's, Under 14's and Under 13's. Training for the teams are held twice weekly on a Wednesday (Under 16's Tuesday) and Sunday.
Mini teams
St Austell RFC currently run Mini teams for the following age groups Under 12's, Under 11's, Under 10's, Under 9's and Under 8's. Training is held for these age groups every Sunday plus every Thursday for the Under 12's and 11's.
St Austell Ladies
St Austell RFC have a ladies XV coached by Steve Macdonald and train on a Thursday at the Tregorrick Park ground. St Austell RFC Ladies Rugby has seen a resurgence in popularity in Cornwall and St Austell Ladies XV is now one of seven ladies rugby teams in Cornwall that play each other competitively.
The ladies game is being developed more with the creation of girls youth teams to provide a legacy for the ladies game.
Summer courses
St Austell RFC hold summer courses at the Tregorrick Park ground during the UK school summer holidays training Rugby Union to children aged 10 to 13 years.
Tregorrick Park
Tregorrick park has been the home of St Austell RFC since its move from Cromwell Road in the town to make way for an Asda supermarket in the late 80's. The Tregorrick Park site provides the club with flood light facilities and reserve pitches to enable the team to play evening games and games in poor light during the winter.
Since moving to the site the ground has seen major development to accommodate more sports and provide additional services. Currently Tregorrick Park is home to St Austell Tennis Club, Cornwall Table Tennis, Saints Gym, and the St Austell Bay Radio Station is broadcast from the ground.
St Austell Bay Radio Station broadcasts a full service to the St Austell area from a studio at Tregorrick Park via a transmitter installed at the site in 2006.
The site also holds local events such as car boot sales and firework displays. The fireworks display at the Tregorrick Park is considered to be the largest in the area. The firework display was cancelled by the Rugby club for a number of years in the 90's following concerns about fireworks and a number of serious accidents involving fireworks.
St Austell RFC in the news
St Austell RFC was in the news in December 2009 when a player for the club was tragically killed in a Road Traffic Incident on the A390 near Truro. Anthony Marshall or ‘Ginge’ as he was more commonly known, was just 35 and suffered fatal injuries following an accident involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a green Mazda 323, when he was believed to be jogging on the A390 Union Hill in Truro near Woodstock corner. http://www.staustellvoice.co.uk/news/75/article/2863/
