Srilatha Sundararajan

Srilatha Sundararajan (born May 21, 1966) is a classical music vocalist, well educated in the Carnatic tradition of Indian classical music.
Introduction
Srilatha is a matured Carnatic vocalist with a rich voice. She has been appreciated well for her
rendering with passionate devotion. Hailing from a musical family, she had a very conducive
atmosphere to nurture the classical touch of Carnatic music. This also enabled her to imbibe the
chaste rendering of kritis, which is quite unique to Sangeetha Kalanidhi Prof. S. Ramanathan, her Guru. She along with
her sister released a cassette on Divyadesa Kirtanas rendering the compositions of her
grandfather Shri. Aravamudachariar. Her father Shri A. Srinivasaraghavan, who
is an accomplished A-grade vocalist of AIR Chennai and disciple of Late Sangeetha Kalanidhi Shri. G. N. Balasubramaniam, ably guided this, . She married Shri V. Sundararajan in 1990. She has been performing both within India and abroad over the last several
years. Most recent being, she had the privilege and blessings of performing a three hour concert
at the Asthana Mandapam of Thirumala Devasthanam, Thirupathi.
Currently Teaching music to about 15 disciples at home and also a Visiting Faculty of Center for
Performing Arts, University of Pune.
Training
Srilatha has been been singing since the age of three. Music is not only a profession but a
passion to her. Shri. Kittamani Iyer of Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, gave an initial formal
training. She continued and enriched her musical knowledge under the tutelage of Late Prof. S.Ramanathan, a well known vocalist and a musicologist over a period of about eight years. This
molded her into a budding vocalist and helped her win many music competitions at the inter-school
and inter-collegiate levels. She also had a brief training under the guidance of Shri B.G.V.
Ramanan (from Dikshitar School of Kolkata) and Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar ( daughter-in-law of D. K. Pattammal).
