Upon pre-production work with script changes and inclusion of the character of Barry Allen into the Arrow Squall left the project. A small legal dispute was settled outside of court about moving forward with the original pilot and outline by Squall without compensation. Squall would eventually walk away completely and retain his original scripts, causing The Flash's production to do massive rewrites weeks before production of the pilot began. It's not clear what elements were completely changed for the episode, but talks of including Justice League characters in the very first episode were discussed. This was before Gotham and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice were developed.
