Biography Dr. Spencer T. Ellis serves as Founder and Senior Pastor of Citadel of Praise . in Detroit, MI. Citadel of Praise was started in July 2005 and is one of the fastest growing churches in metropolitian Detroit.
Within its first year of ministry, under the leadership of Pastor Ellis, Citadel purchased five acres of land and properties, which includes four institutional buildings: • A 700 seat church auditorium • Administrative offices • Elementary school building • A former 14 bed-room convalescent home
As Senior Pastor of Citadel, the church has implemented the Citadel Head Start nursery program which teaches and trains 135 pre-school and kindergarten children, “Sons & Daughters of Citadel” mentorship program, annual holiday food and clothing outreaches.
In addition, under the leadership of Pastor Ellis, Citadel has established the Citadel Community Development Corporation (CCDC). CCDC is an extension and affiliate of Citadel of Praise church. CCDC, a organization, was established to meet and address the mental, physical, and moral needs of the communities.
Dr. Ellis delivers a weekly sermon on the Christian Television Network. He is married to Tracey D. Ellis, and has two children, Avery Rose and David Lee.
Education Pastor Ellis graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit and Morehouse College (Bachelor of Arts) in Atlanta, GA. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from Lawrence Technical University in Southfield, MI. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Theological Seminary. He received his Ministerial and Ordination certificates from Aenon Bible College. In 2007, he was awared an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College.
Community Involvement He serves on the Board of Ethics for the City of Detroit. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Evergreen Children's Services Foster Care Agency and as a Chaplain for the Detroit Police Department. He is a life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
