Spectral Power

Spectral Power is a framework for understanding the breadth of how power and influence are expressed and exerted by both state and non-state actors. The Spectral Power concept was established and the phrase coined by Markos Kounalakis and Ambassador András Simonyi. It is an extension of the foundational work done by Professor Joseph S. Nye, Jr. on Soft Power and Smart Power.
The first article regarding Spectral Power was published in the Christian Science Monitor opinion pages in October 2010 in a piece titled [http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Opinion/2010/1027/Guitars-Google-and-guns-a-new-view-of-Western-power/%28page%29/1 “Guitars, Google, and guns: a new view of Western power”].
