Sparesbox is an Australian online auto parts retailer, founded in 2014 by Leon Saliba and Andrew Palmer. History Sparesbox was founded by two friends, Leon Saliba, a qualified Chemical Engineer, and Andrew Palmer, a Computer Science and Microelectronics Engineer. Prior to becoming the co-founder and Managing Director of Sparesbox, Saliba worked as an Asia-Pacific Supply Chain Procurement Manager at Burberry, in London and Hong Kong. Upon returning to his hometown, Saliba became an Original Equipment Buyer for Toyota and Holden in Melbourne. Andrew Palmer worked in digital production and engineering roles in Sydney and New York City before becoming the co-founder and Head of Technology at Sparesbox. In 2014, Sparesbox received $1.2 million funding rounds from a Melbourne-based venture capital firm, Carthona Capital. In July 2016, it received $3.5 million series A funding from Moelis Australia Asset Management and Carthona. In August 2016, Sparesbox launched a fleet of tech-led mobile mechanics through the Sparesbox Service, starting out in Sydney and expanding Australia-wide. Sponsorship In 2016, Sparesbox announced its official sponsorship of the 2017 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, Australia’s International Endurance Race. For the duration of the event, in February 2017, the iconic dipper at the Mount Panorama circuit will be renamed the “Sparesbox Dipper”.
