Piston Cloud Computing, Inc. is a software company based in San Francisco, California, USA. Their core product is Piston OpenStack, designed for managing private infrastructure-as-a-service clouds. It is built on the OpenStack open source cloud framework. History Piston Cloud was founded in January 2011 by former NASA Lead Architect Joshua McKenty, former NASA Director of Communications and PR Gretchen Curtis, and former Rackspace Lead Engineer Christopher MacGown. The flagship software product, Piston OpenStack, was made generally available in January 2012. Piston joined the newly formed OpenStack Foundation as a gold member in September 2012. In December of 2012, former Zimbra General Manager Jim Morrisroe was appointed as CEO. In February 2013, Piston received $8 million in series B funding from Cisco Systems, Data Collective, Swisscom Ventures, Divergent Ventures, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and True Ventures.
