The Soton Tab is the leading independent news provider for the University of Southampton. Only available online, and often called The Tab, it was created in late 2010 to provide the student body with uncensored, light-hearted news and opinion focusing on the university. The academic year 2011/2012 has seen a vast increase in The Tab's circulation, and it was even nominated for an Excellence In Volunteering (EVA) award by the Southampton University's Student Union. The Tab holds high rivalry with the "official" university news outlet, The Wessex Scene.
