Sopnendu Mohanty is a fintech professional who currently serves as the Chief FinTech Officer for the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He is an innovator in digital payment and digital assets and always voicing for them. He also serves as advisor on fintech related issues for the National University of Singapore, International Monetary Fund, Mojaloop Foundation and the Indian State Government of Odisha. He also leads as the chairman of MAS's Elevandi, a platform that brings together financial institutions and fintechs across the world. Early life and education Mohanty was born in Cuttack, and grew up in Balasore in Orissa, India. He graduated with a bachelor's in Science. He also has a master's in Information Science from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. Career Mohanty joined Citi in the late 1990s and was involved in various innovative smart banking initiatives. He left Citi after serving nearly two decades in various leadership roles including as the head of Global Consumer Lab Network & Programs. He joined the Monetary Authority of Singapore as the Chief Fintech Officer in 2015 and leads the newly established FinTech & Innovation Group (FTIG) which consist of a number of initiatives including the Singapore FinTech Festival and APIX. He also serves in his personal capacity as an advisor to the Indian state Government of Odisha to facilitate the state’s financial inclusion. Recognition Mohanty has been recognized by a number of institutions including Institutional Investor as the 'Fintech's Most Powerful Dealmakers of 2016', Singapore Computer Society as the 'IT Leader of the Year (2019)', and International Financial Law Review (IFLR), Euromoney as the "Market Reformer of the Year (2018)".<ref namescsitl/><ref namednmasc/>
