Sono Aibe is an activist and scholar who has worked to facilitate global health initiatives and reproductive rights for communities in East Asia, East Africa, and the United States. She went on to attend The Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, earning her Masters of Health Science in 1988. She worked at The David and Lucile Packard Foundation from 1996 to 2009. She joined the organization Pathfinder International in 2009, where she was a Technical Lead for Integrated Health and Environment Programs in East Africa and worked on program development in East Asia. Aibe also sat on the board of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte in California for six years. In the publication, Aibe also worked to analyze the underlying cultural reasons both against and for abortion. Additionally, Aibe has analyzed the work associated with the Health of People and the Environment in the Lake Victoria Basin initiative. This initiative worked to fight against deterioration of the local ecosystem within the area of the Lake Victoria Basin. Aibe has also worked on publishing a portrait of a collaborative research initiative, titled The Changzhou Worker Wellness Project.
