Social Confirming

Social Confirming is a set of tools and social initiatives designed by the Junta de Andalucía to give control to the citizens over the corporate social responsibility, through their micro-actions. It is an initiative launched by the Minister for Employment of the Junta de Andalucía, Manuel Recio Menéndez during the AIR2010 meeting held in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, on December 16 and 17, 2010.
The situation of economic and financial crisis that affected the global economic system from 2008, generated a social reaction focused in changing an economic model that was not able to self-regulate in the most difficult moments.
In this context, some voices began to emerge, as the Minister for Employment of the Government of Andalusia, which advocated for the creation of a new model to improve those aspects of the market economy proved to be ineffective. According to the proponents of these reforms the traditional values of the current economic model had to be replaced by others based on sustainability, justice and solidarity.
In this context, for the promoters of the concept, the goal are the citizens, and the tool, the new information and communication technologies. The emergence of the social networks and the development of the Internet and globalization instruments, equip with a force never seen before to the citizens, and therefore they can participate in a direct way in a range of actions that are at the heart of political life . Open Government is an example, but not unique.
According to Manuel Recio, Social Confirming is perfectly applicable as a tool for the citizens to control the activities of companies to be socially responsible to society and their environment.
