SMS Chat is a text messaging functionality which allows the user to see the SMS history on a mobile phone device. SMS Chat was the first example of threaded messages for a mobile phone. History Initial concept It was first introduced to the Nokia 3310 in year 2000, which was developed in Nokias R&D center in Copenhagen. It was patented in 1999 as e.g. US6915138 SMS Chat today SMS Chat can still be found in all lower cost mobile phones from Nokia. SMS Chat has been applied to more than 800 million devices (Nokia 3310, 3330, 1600, 1208, 1200, 1100, 1110 alone account for this number, see also List of best-selling mobile phones). Further developments and evolutions of the SMS Chat concept can be found in e.g. iPhone from Apple, under different names like Conversational View, Threaded SMS view etc. |
