SkyRam

Northrop Grumman SkyRam
Begun in 2008, the SkyRam Project was created by a group of three engineers at the Northrop Grumman Electronics System office in Linthicum, Maryland. The SkyRam, intended to replace the Space Shuttle system, and to be an alternative to the Orion, the SkyRam is a SSTO to be based in the area 25 miles south of Corpus Christi, Texas on the King Ranch. The SkyRam is composed of three major systems, the rail, the accelerator vehicle, and the space vehicle.
The Rail
The SkyRam's rail will be a triple rail track modified maglev track, called Inductrack, extending for 50 miles from west to east.
