Sky Tennis is a game, derived from the original game of tennis, in which individual players or teams play a match of tennis from a roof of a skyscraper to another. The game cannot be played on the same building, separate towers must be present at the time of match, otherwise it is considered sky squash, or sky padel, games derived from other originals as well. Sky Tennis is currently becoming popular across the world in many varying formats. Its origin started in Mexico City in 2011 inside the prestigious residential neighborhood Bosques de las Lomas by Rodrigo "Pibe" Santisteban and Miguel "Mookie" Avalos; both currently ranked 1st and 2nd in the world respectively. Sky Tennis rules and variations The game follows simple rules, and is based on the original tennis scoring, however the games are played to 11 sets; first to win 6 sets is considered the winner. This philosophy is based on the double-effort theory proposed by the founding fathers of the sport. The minimum height requirements of the buildings are very important, and should not be less than five stories, otherwise it could be subject to warnings and fines established by the ISTA (International Sky Tennis Association.) Players will only receive three balls at the beginning of the match, and those same balls must last through the entirety of the match. If a ball falls out of the roof, the player who loses the point is responsible in the recovery of the ball, the use of elevators or third-party assistance is prohibited. The Save Because of the obvious time and ball limit implications, sky tennis introduced the save. A move in which a player can risk his body to save the ball. If the sky-chair umpire considers the save to be clean, meaning the ball was indeed saved, the player gets awarded a save. At the end of the match, in case of a 5-5 set tie, the player with the most saves is awarded the 6th and final set in order to avoid a tie-breaker which isn't part of sky-tennis for the possible fatal repercussions. Fitness Sky Tennis demands only the highest, most rigorous, hard-working and intensive competitive behaviors from its athletes. The prototypical body build of a Sky Tennis player consists on super strong and quick lower body. Because of the elevator prohibition, the players develop one of the strongest legs amongst college athletes. The hand-eye coordination in the sport is also a very crucial skill players develop through the years. Balls Balls used in sky tennis are identical to traditional tennis balls. Equipment Racquets from the latest and most advanced technology aren't traditionally used. The sky tennis professionals prefer the classic wooden tennis racquets mainly because of their simplicity. Fashion In contrast to other racquet sports, Sky Tennis players prefer a more elegant and prestigious look. Mainly inspired by the likes of Les Quatre Mousquetaires, The Four Musketeers, Björn Borg, Guillermo Vilas, etc. Picture gallery
