Sky of Red Poppies is a 2010 fictional novel written by Iranian-American author Zohreh Ghahremani. The book was published by Turquoise Books and was one of the San Diego Public Library's top books for 2011. Ghahremani stated that she "wanted to tell the story of a nation and a life that will never be again". Plot Sky of Red Poppies focuses on the friendship between two different young women in 1960s Iran. Reception East County Magazine praised Sky of Red Poppies, citing the characters' coming of age as a turning point of the novel. Iranian.com positively reviewed the book, stating it "does a phenomenal job exploring not only personal challenges that two friends face on their own, but the history and attitudes of late 1960's time period in Iran among the younger generation and their hope for change".
