Skullptura was a video game pirate, active between 2006 and 2009. Rather than creating an image of the cd, modified to accept a key-generated authentication code, as was the usual habit at the time, he distributed a pre-installed archive of the game with a batch file that inserted the required registry keys. He also released a number of patches for illegally installed games. Skullptura initally used 7-zip to compress the installation folder of a game, moving on to FreeArc later on. This process involved increasing the compression of pre-rendered videos and sound. He termed this a full rip, in contrast to the versions commonly available, which often did not include audio and video files, in an effort to decrease archive size.
