SiteKiosk is a kiosk software application which is used to secure public access computers as well as information and Internet terminals. The software makes it possible to run devices in so-called kiosk mode. The built-in Web browser is based on the Web browser control of Internet Explorer, but offers more features that are intended to improve, first and foremost, security and ease of use. History The first version of the software was released in 1998 and has undergone constant further development ever since. In addition to SiteKiosk for Windows, PROVISIO also launched a version of its application for the Android platform in 2011. When tested in an independent global study relating to kiosk browsers, SiteKiosk prevailed against 44 competitors and ranked 1st place. Included features SiteKiosk provides a customizable option to restrict access to the operating systems, system settings, applications and websites from the time the system boots up until it is shut down. Another integrated feature is a content filter which helps prevent access to websites that are considered to be harmful to young people. Apart from these primary security features, the software also features skins that make it possible for the user to customize home pages or the integrated browser. Another option lets the user check the devices run by SiteKiosk using optional remote maintenance software that is intended for repairs and maintenance purposes. Also, Provisio has partnered up with PrinterOn to add remote printing capabilities to public access computers in business centers, hotel lobby or any other place where users want to remotely send print jobs from their mobile devices directly to a PrinterOn-enabled printer that is connected to the SiteKiosk PC without having to connect to your secure network or download drivers.
