Love blossoms between David and Dheeba. David and his friends start up a small factory, when one day, Manju (Jothi) a pretty woman who was his love interest in college. Manju tells him to leave Dheeba and also tells him that she works in a car company in Montreal, Canada. The rest of the movie is about David, torn between his love for both women and how he chooses Manju in the end.
Popular Culture
Sam Anderson has formed a small cult following from this movie. Several viral videos have been posted on youtube with reference to this movie. The movie is known for numerous bloopers, poor acting, a disjointed story, unprofessional dance sequences and some very slip-shod video editing. Some of the numerous Sam Anderson stunts are presented below
*In the first scene when Sir Sam makes his entrance, Dheeba is screaming for help as her chain has been stolen by robbers. When Sir Sam makes an about turn and chases after them, the next scene flashes to him coming back. Dheeba is still screaming for help, when she could have stood up on her own.
*Sir Sam goes to his scooter to get a bottle of water, makes small talk with Dheeba, and after a long time, asks her to sing. He then gives her the bottle, as if he had pre-meditated that he would ask her to sing anyway.
*Sir Sam talks sense into a bunch of robbers by telling them he is willing to give up his crucifix chain in return for Dheeba's chain.
*Sir Sam does his shoulder shrugging move in every song, which has been remixed into various popular tamil songs.
*One of the songs is used twice in the movie, with the 2 different heroines, for lack of another song.
*Sir Sam sees Manju after 2 years, and his reaction is an extremely unsurprised one. His hallmark expression throughout the movie is one of confusion, incomprehension, and a loss about what to do.
*A scene with Dheeba sees Sir Sam look at the camera and hesitate to come onto the screen.
*It is unknown whether Sir Sam is a designer, an automobile engineer or a mechanic. Though he claims he is an automobile engineer, all his prototypes are crayon-colored drawings of cars. At the same time, he starts a mechanical repair shop. Throughout the movie, only a single Maruti Omni is repaired in Sir Sam's workshop.
*Similarly, Sir Sam goes to a showroom owner, as opposed to a car company manager, to present his idea about the 70 000 Rs. car. The showroom owner, Dheeba's father, also refuses to give him a poster of India's next generation car (which happens to be a Ferrari F50), because apparently it is the only picture of it he has in the showroom. Sir Sam gives his regular calm and composed expression.
*A defining trait of the movie is for a character to speak to Sam Anderson for a few minutes, and then either the camera will zoom in on Sir Sam's face, or Sir Sam will ask "what are you saying", or "I don't understand", on which the character will repeat what he or she just said.
*The climax of the movie sees Sir Sam tell Dheeba that in his life, Dheeba is his every step ("Ovvoru Steppum Nee, Steppum Nee"), but not his Stepnee (Spare Wheel).
*The final scene shows David and Manju encircling her Hyundai Santro, and then presumably flying to Canada.
